Big Tummy!

MahaDev: Amma, why do you have a big tummy?
Amma: May be Amma eats too much?
MahaDev: No, I know...thats why you could carry me in there.
Amma: (Hugging M), really?
MahaDev: Ammoommas is even bigger, and she carried you!
Amma: Why do some boys have big tummys then?
MahaDev: Simply, they eat too much!

Victory of Rama over Ravana!

No idea how many times he has gone through the Rama-Ravana story, however his favy bit is that of Hanuman. MahaDev's favourite super hero! Loved the way he is hanging in the tree here!
PS: MahaDev drew this one to submit for a publication for Dusshera (not sure if this is selected).

My lil Hero turns 6 today!

Here is wishing my little hero the best birthday ever! The one thing that will never fade from me is my first sight at him with just skin and blood and squeals which is an irreplaceable feeling ever and an unknown mix of emotions. Like an internal organ made visible to you at the outset which felt weird and then your body being accountable for its food made it feel even more weird!

Well, labour was no fun and my Doc said “it would be all over fast and you would never complain about it as it is all worth it”! Thinking it part of her routine trade for offering assurance and best customer care, I was not particularly convinced. But, before too long I realised she was undeniably true and the little package was magic!

As any parent, I treasure all of the first kinds in the run from his first kick in my tummy to let me know he was there which was exciting… to the first hug, first laugh, first teeth, first steps, first words, first picture, first day at school...From there, it has grown to plentiful hugs and kisses, hand-written letters and hand-made gifts for no reason...and I realise there is no way to re-live any of those first moments how much ever I want to…and my lil sweetheart is growing up each and every moment…and they grow up far too fast! Time is not enough to enjoy them as much as you want!

First Ever Malayalam article

Words can do no justice if I am to express my happiness with this.

First article in Malayalam, and that too about his little brother. Mahadev could manage reading and writing some letters since 3 years, however it progressed to the next level during this school holidays esp with having Ammomma around. I am certain that he will make use of these letters in his life in many means or atleast with a sense of belonging!

But right now, M feels so happy that he can manage 'Kalikudukka' on his own.

My Uncle's Wedding - April 2015

MahaDev's letter to his class teacher after our holiday to attend Chandu's marriage this year!

Absolutely loved the pic, however slightly disappointed that children these days love to play with phones at a wedding hall where as we used to monkey around and mess with the mandapam, flowers etc. May be weddings now are too exotic and too very well planned that no one really mess around with anything.

MahaDev gets a new take on 'naadu' every year on our holidays and loves every bit of it. But this short holiday particularly has provided MahaDev with ever lasting fond memories on 'naadu' who keeps asking, "when next is Chandu Kochachan's wedding?"

Artist (Bed-time Stories)

MahaDev: Amma, "I am a good artist"
Amma: You are good and you are artistic, not sure if you can self claim that you are an artist
MahaDev: Yes, my teacher said so!
Amma: She may be right, but I would like you to say "I want to become an artist and do good stuff"
MahaDev: Can I be an artist when I grow up?
Amma: That is your choice. But I would say you would choose some kind of a profession (like a Dr, Engr, Teacher etc.) and do art stuff on your spare time.
MahaDev: What if I want to do art stuff all the time and there is no time for a profession
Amma: That is hard then, there are risks with being a full-time artist
MahaDev: What is a risk? I think I will be happy to do art all the time.
Amma: Good then, everyone makes choice about their lives and work when they grow up. For e.g, your Achan and Amma wanted to become Engineers, Appoopan wanted to be a teacher etc. for their own reasons (You may choose to be like them or to be a DR to save others' lives, you may choose to be a Scientist to find new stuff for people etc).
MahaDev: I think I would still want to be an artist then. Achan doesnt get time to do art stuff because Achan has to go to work. May be I would become a scientist also if you want me to. But I think I will do art all the time.
Amma: Good one M, I think you can be an artistic scientist - how about that?
MahaDev: Sounds funny (hugs)!
MahaDev: Amma, "Why did you want to be an Engineer?"
Amma: Ayyo! MahaDev - loong story, some other time okay? and high time to sleep.

Metal or Wood?

MahaDev: Amma, is it metal or wood which is stronger?
Amma: It really depends on which metal you are talking about...
MahaDev: Amma, I am talking about metal, just metal..
Amma: If it is iron, it would be stronger than wood if they are of the same size..if gold, the case would not be the same.
MahaDev: ooo is gold a metal too?

Amsterdam and Hamsters! - May 2015

Amma: MahaDev, I have to go to Amsterdam for a couple of days for work. Will be back soon, be good!
MahaDev: Do they have a lot of 'hamsters' in Amsterdam? If so can I come too to see them?
Amma: Kutta, I never thought it this way- and Amma has no clue. Let me find out this time when I go. If there is, we will go together next time with Acha and Kammu.

MahaDev: I am already excited - woohooo!

My Vishu - April 2015

A quick one on Vishu - Highlight is Kanikonna hanging down the tree infront of his Aberdeen House ( A good mix of Kerala and Scotland!)

Kadhakali - October 2013

MahaDev's first exposure to Kadhakali was at Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple when Nalacharitham Naalam Divasam was performed. When the three year old walked through the crowd and occupied a seat in the front row on his own to enjoy the performance moving this little fingers in sync with the beats, it was sight to many eyes there.

However, when Kalachethana Company performed Duryodhana Vadham at Aberdeen, it was this little one's opportunity to see it a little bit in more detail and also to go beyond the stage and meet the artists and make up folks. It is certain that the whole mix of colours, beats, theme and acting conquered the little one's heart and he tried to bring them back with this little box and set of colours.

Hard to identify if it is Krishna or Dushasana little MahaDev was depicting through this colors - however according to him this is Krishnavesham
